July's workshop will be a Sun Salutations workshop led by one of our wonderful teachers, Iris. This two-hour workshop combines an all-level Vinyasa flow that will focus on Sun Salutations-Surya Namaskara. We will explore the details and benefits of each posture and go deeper into the background of the beautiful practice. It will include interactive lectures discussing our breathing techniques, physiological benefits of the postures, and modifications that can be made to fit your practice. We will also go a bit deeper and discuss the practice of Sun Salutations as meditation and ritual.

Fish Pose--Posture of the Week at Rise Yoga HB!

Continuing with our focus on activating the Throat Chakra this month, this week at Rise Yoga HB we are featuring Fish Pose in our practice. Practicing Fish Pose can reestablish your focus and give you resiliency when you feel gravity laden. Fish Pose also strengthens your back and your abdominals, and the deep neck curve benefits the thyroid. Like all backward-bending poses, Fish Pose lifts your heart and lightens your mood.

Other benefits of Fish Pose include:

  • · Stretches your deep hip flexors and intercostals (muscles between the ribs)
  • · Relieves tension in your neck, throat, and shoulders
  • · Stretches and tones the front of your neck and your abdominals
  • · Stretches and stimulates the organs of your belly and throat
  • · Strengthens your upper back and the back of your neck
  • · Relieves stress and irritation
  • · Improves posture
  • · Therapeutic for rounded-shoulders, asthma, spasms in the bronchial tubes, and other respiratory issues

Come practice with us this week at Rise Yoga HB and experience all the benefits Fish Pose will have on your life!

Resonate with Your Inner Truth.

This month at Rise Yoga HB we are working on our Vishuddha Chakra, or Throat Chakra. Located in the neck, throat, jaw, and mouth, the Vishuddha Chakra resonates with our inner truth and helps us find a personal way to convey our voice to the outside world. This Chakra helps us to express ourselves in music, dance, singing, and communication through writing and speaking. Our instructors are leading us through asanas that help us activate our Throat Chakra, such as Camel Pose, Bridge Pose, Shoulder Stand, and Plow Pose.

Learn even more about this Chakra in this article.

We invite you to come practice with us and see the changes in your life that activating the Throat Chakra will provide. We have a wonderful 30 days of unlimited Yoga for $30 new student special happening now that you don't want to miss--tell your friends!

See you on the mat!

For now, we leave you with this quote going along with our heart-opening focus for May:

"It is important to keep our heart open not just to receive love and light but to let the light and love that dwells in our hearts shine forth. As human beings it is imperative to  be open to the spiritual experience of our true Self. It is not just our dharma or duty but it is the very purpose of our existence. When the heart is open we feel love, not for anyone or anything or any other reason than the simple fact that we are alive, that we exist. For in essence we are both love and light."
